Factors affecting rate of reaction edexcel
WebIn this investigation I intend to explore one of the factors that affect the rate of enzyme catalysis. My research from textbooks and Internet searches suggests that this depends on several factors; temperature, volume, pressure, pH and concentration. After research and careful consideration, I have decided to investigate concentration. WebMeasuring concentration changes. Measuring concentration changes during a reaction is not easy; the act of taking a sample and analysing it by titration can affect the rate of reaction (unless the reaction is deliberately stopped- this is called quenching). Often it is more convenient to ‘stop the clock’ when a specific (visible) point in the reaction is reached

The protein nature of the enzymes makes them extremely sensitive to thermal changes. Enzyme activity occurs within a narrow range of temperatures compared to ordinary chemical reactions. As you have seen, each enzyme has a certain temperature at which it is more active.
WebThe rate of an enzyme-catalysed reaction is calculated by measuring the rate at which a substrate. is used up or by the rate at which a product is formed. curriculum-key-fact Web4.6.1 Rate of reaction. 4.6.1.2 Factors which affect the rates of chemical reactions. Factors which affect the rates of chemical reactions include: the concentrations of reactants in solution, the pressure of reacting gases, the surface area of solid reactants, the temperature and the presence of catalysts.
